![]() I love the simple yet very distinct character designs of our main trio, and it also gives them the advantage of being easy to animate, so more movements and sakuga just like with what we see during the second half of the episode. Okay first of all, the background art is just gorgeous, the school alone with its many quirks is already a treat for our eyes. Oh wow! OH WOW! I am simply blown away by this first episode! Like where do I even begin? This is easily the show I'm most invested in this season. Midori's voice is rather tomboyish (pretty similar to Conan's voice) ![]() The whole city is pretty much an artificial island on top of a coast (Conan and his grandfather start their story in a distant unhabitated island). Like Tsubame being chased down by bodyguards (Lana was also being persecuted by her own guards). I feel that there are plenty of homages to Mirai Shonen Conan on this first episode than meets the eye. But those who don't have a subscription in Anime-Planet, here are some of the original cuts from Mirai Shonen Conan used for the retraces: And I would suggest that anyone interested in big adventure shows with shonen style action and craving for old style mechanical artifacts to give it a try, Anime-Planet owns the rights for streaming. U/drunk_reddit_acount mentioned it would be nice to watch the original Mirai Shonen Conan just for the retraces. The perspective in several shots are really immersive and gives me the sense that I'm watching the whole story from very different angles, not just a very static one wich is quite the norm in animation. The editing is just phenomenal, there isn't a single shot where I feel lost in terms of spacing. The cutscene in the school theatre is a great example of what I'm talking about, how before the whole getaway sequence begins, a big part of the actual set is presented while the characters move around it. But I think the surroundings of this city is probably just as aluring as the main characters are in the sense of spatial awareness and how the animators and storyboard guys managed to craft the story and how the characters move around. The three main characters are phenomenal with their own quirks and personalities. I had certains expectations this being a Yuasa Project, and man, this first episode surpassed every one of them with a hefty surplus. Looking for what show an image came from?
